CEMEX operations in Arizona receive six ARPA safety awards

CEMEX operations in Southern Arizona earned first place for safety against other ready-mix and aggregates facilities with between 200 000 and 299 999 work hours in 2017. The Southern Arizona operations also received a certificate from ARPA for zero safety incidents in 2017.

Operations in the Western Arizona Region received first place in its division of facilities with 50 000 to 199 999 work hours as well as a certificate from ARPA for zero safety incidents in 2017.

CEMEX’s ready-mix concrete and aggregates operations in Phoenix/Northern Arizona earned second place for operations with more than 600 000 work hours in 2017.

“We are proud of our operations in Arizona for leading the way in the industry when it comes to safety,” said CEMEX USA President—West Region Eric Wittmann. “These awards show they take CEMEX’s commitment to safety very seriously, striving to uphold that standard each day and consistently working to achieve Zero4Life.”

ARPA presented CEMEX Safety Manager of Country Arizona, David Carter, with an award for 2017 Safety Professional of the Year. The Country Arizona region in CEMEX covers Northern, Southern and Western Arizona.

“It takes a complete team effort from leadership and dedicated employees to create and maintain our strong safety culture,” said Alan MacVicar, CEMEX USA’s Vice President of Health and Safety. “We congratulate David and all the operations for the recognition of their hard work that can inspire others across the industry.”

ARPA is the oldest Mining Association in Arizona, representing companies that produce nearly all of the aggregates in the state.
