Brazil

According to SNIC, domestic Brazilian cement sales reached 5.5 million t in June, up 3% m/m. In 2Q13, sales came in at 17.4 million t, up 4.8% y/y, an improvement on 1Q13 when sales fell by 1.6% y/y. Paraguay

The latest statistics from Paraguay’s INC reveal that almost 4.9 million bags of cement were sold in the country in the first six months of 2013. This represents an increase of 21% y/y compared to the 4.05 million bags sold in the corresponding period in 2012. In May 2013 884 441 bags were sold and 787 217 bags were sold in June. Recent figures have felt the impact of heavy rains, which have slowed construction activity. In January – May, 3.68 million bags of cement were imported into Paraguay (47.3% of total consumption), from countries such as Brazil and Argentina.
