US cement shipments fall in February 2018

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US were down year on year in February, according to date from the USGS. Shipments totalled 5.8 million t, down 3.6% on February 2017.
Masonry cement shipments were also down to 6.5% at around 0.17 million t.
Texas, California, Florida, Georgia and Arizona were to top-five consuming states of Portland and blended cements. Florida, Texas, California, North Carolina, and Georgia were the leading consumers of masonry cement.
Clinker production stood at 4.7 million t, down 4.8% on February 2017’s output, with Texas, California, Missouri, Florida, and Michigan the top five producers, accounting for about 57% of production.
Imports of cement (excluding information road-based imports across Canadian and Mexican borders) were down about 16% at 0.7 million t of cement and clinker.
