Lafarge and Solidia Technologies collaborate on environmental precast technology
Lafarge and US-based Solidia Technologies® have formed a partnership to develop environmental technology for precast concrete on an industrial scale. The technology reduces CO2 emissions in the cement manufacturing process and captures CO2 in precast concrete production, potentially lowering total CO2 emissions by up to 70%. In 1H14, the two companies will work together to study the feasibility of commercial-scale production. They will then market the innovative solution for the precast concrete sector.
Lafarge and its Research Center have been considering ways to reduce the environmental footprint of building materials for more than two decades. Since 1990, the construction materials manufacturer has reduced CO2 emissions by 25%/t of cement.
