Sandvik Coromant announce winner of global Graphene Challenge

Sandvik Coromant has announced the winner of the global Graphene Challenge competition.

The prize was awarded to an innovative contribution that used graphene for a filtration device and system for desalinization that could provide drinkable water to households. This solution would enable a reduction in energy costs and allviate the strain on current water supplies by recycling water. The winner was Nadia Ayad from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is a bachelor student in materials engineering at the Military Institute of Engineering (Instituto Militar de Engenharia – IME) and was chosen from ten top by a distinguished panel of judges. She will be invited to Sandvik Coromant’s headquarters in Sandviken, Sweden to meet with industry professionals and visit the Graphene Centre at Chalmers University.
