ContiTech acquires US conveyor belt manufacturer
ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group, Northeim, has acquired Legg Company Inc., a conveyor belt manufacturer based in Kansas, USA. Founded in 1964, the North American company manufactures conveyor belts for industrial applications, such as cement plants, paper mills and storage warehouses, at its modern production facilities in Halstead.
The purchase allows ContiTech to expand its product range, especially in areas such as silicone belts, flat belts and lightweight belts.
The transaction took place on 1 July 2013. The acquisition price has not been disclosed.
Commenting on the purchase, Hans-Jürgen Duensing, Head of the ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group business unit, said: “This acquisition means that in the future we will have our own production facilities for agricultural and industrial belts in the USA as well as an established sales network in the USA and Canada. This supports our expansion in the NAFTA region and supplements our production site in Mexico.”
