Sales of grey cement experience y/y growth in Ecuador and Colombia
Ecuador
According to the Ecuadorian Institute of Cement and Concrete (INECYC), 594 814 t of cement was sold in November 2013. Although this represents a decline m/m (611 987 t was sold in October 2013), it does indicate y/y improvement. In November 2012, 561 535 t of cement was dispatched. On an accumulated basis, more than 6.04 million t was sold in January – November 2013. In 2012, sales came in at 6.03 million t in the full year.
Colombia
The latest statistics from DANE reveal that cement production in Colombia grew by 9.6% y/y to 1.02 million t in November 2013. In the first 11 months of the year, production levels of grey cement increased by 2.6% y/y to reach 10.2 million t.
In November alone, sales on the domestic market were up 6.9% y/y, coming in at 978 700 t. In January – November 2013, sales volumes experienced a rise of 3.1% y/y.
