Grey cement dispatches up 5.5% y/y in Colombia in October 2014
Data released by DANE reveals that grey cement dispatches increased by 5.5% y/y to 1.09 million t on Colombia’s national market in October 2014. On a regional basis, there was a particular improvement in sales in Bogotá (9.1%), Nariño (86.1), Cundinamarca (8.4%), Antioquia (4.5%), Magdalena (24.5%), Atlántico (9.9%) and Cesar (13.1%).
In January – October, around 10.19 million t of grey cement was produced in Colombia, up 10.5% y/y. Compared to the corresponding period in 2013, domestic dispatches grew by 10.7% to 9.95 million t. In the first ten months of 2014, there were rises in dispatch levels in Antioquia (14.2%), Cundinamarca (18.4%), Magdalena (31.7%), Bogotá (4.7%), North Santander (27.4%) and Huila (22.9%), although dispatches fell by 23.2% in Córdoba.
In the 12 months to October 2014, cement dispatches were up by 10.3% y/y and production by 10.2% y/y.
