With the delivery of five pump drives in early 2015, Menzel Elektromotoren GmbH has successfully completed an unusually long-running project. A first request for these drives by an Austrian plant manufacturer had come in as early as 2010. However, the drive engineering expert did not receive the final order until mid-2014. The small series comprises five identical MEBGKR type motors in size 500, with 650 kW rated power, a voltage of 10 000 V and an operating speed of 1490 min-1 each.
Menzel delivered five identical pump drives in early 2015, after a four year project phase.
Between 2010 and 2014, the end user had considered various alternative motors from manufacturers all over the world. With their quality, good technical specifications and high efficiency, Menzel’s drives remained the most attractive offer. These efficient motors not only reduce energy costs, but also generate less heat. Five motors with substantially lower energy efficiency would otherwise cause the ambient temperature on the manufacturing floor to rise significantly. Menzel’s electric motors are highly efficient due to the use of top-quality materials, such as low loss magnetic sheet steel, an optimised design and precise manufacturing.
The company has more than 85 years of experience in special motor construction for a wide variety of industry sectors and provides versatile drive solutions for customers worldwide – often at short notice to help avoid long production downtimes and delays. During the unusually long phase of this particular project, Menzel adapted the motors in several revisions to factor in pump design changes.
