A reorganisation is underway at Finnish engineering company, Metso, with the company dividing into seven new business areas “built around similar customer, competitive and business dynamics,” said Nico Delvaux, President and CEO. The change will be effective from 1 January 2018.
The new business areas will be: Mining Equipment, Aggregates Equipment, Minerals Services, Minerals Consumables, Recycling, Valves, and Pumps. The heads of the business areas will report to Delvaux.
The reorganisation “will further strengthen the accountability of our business and speed up decision-making to enable both the implementation of our growth plants and the agile response to market changes,” continued Delvaux. “Our focus on innovation and technology will significantly increase to provide better solutions for sustainability, efficiency, and productivity for our customers.”
The presidents of the Aggregates Equipment business area, as well as Minerals Services and Minerals Consumables business areas, have yet to be named.
Victor Tapia, who currently holds the role of President – Minerals Capital, will become President of the Mining Equipment business area, while John Quinlivan will become President of both Valves and Pumps business areas – essentially the same role as he currently holds as President – Flow Control. Uffe Hansen will continue to head Metco’s recycling business as Senior Vice President of the Recycling business areas, but – in a change from the current structure – will join the company’s Executive Team.
The recycling business, which includes the company’s shredders for the production of alternative fuels, had formed part of Metso’s Minerals Capital business area.
Eeva Sipilä (Chief Financial Officer), Merja Kamppari (Senior Vice President – Human Resources), Olli-Pekka Oksanen Senior Vice President – Strategy and Business Development), Jani Puroranta (Chief Digital Officer) will also maintain their positions on the Executive Team.
As previously announced, the current President of Mineral Services, Perttu Louhiluoto, will leave Metso to become CEO of Rettig ICC, a European supplier of heat emitters and indoor climate comfort.
