Companies that need to constantly monitor flows of highly abrasive or dangerous materials, including those in the power, pulp and paper, mining, oil and dredging industries, can now reduce maintenance costs, simplify regulatory compliance and increase safety using two new gamma ray gauges.

Thermo Scientific’s LevelPRO and DensityPRO gauges are designed to offer highly precise non-contact density and level measurements of process materials in the most challenging industrial conditions. Featuring sources that are as much as 50% smaller than the previous generation of gamma ray gauges, the DensityPRO and LevelPRO require less lead shielding and have a significantly lower overall cost of ownership. For additional safety and reliability, both gauges are certified by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for safe operation in case of shock, vibration or earthquake. Together, the instruments are designed to offer a comprehensive, reliable and easy solution for EPA Low As Reasonably Acceptable (LARA) compliance.

“Industrial facilities that deal with materials like mine tailings, cement, dredging spoils and asphalt need to be constantly assured that their processes are operating safely and at maximum efficiency – the DensityPRO and LevelPRO are designed to help them achieve that,” said Tony Hart, Nuclear Products Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “With their rugged design and flexible configuration options, these gauges have the versatility to help optimise process control for virtually any industry.”

Additionally, the gauges offer:

  • The widest and most stable operating temperature range (-40 °C to 75 °C) of any competing instrument.
  • Independent multiplexing, which allows up to three gauges to use the same data system and transmitter.
  • Lead-free circuit boards for compliance with the EU Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) and other regulations.
  • EZ CAL II calibration software for simplified instrument setup and maintenance.
