Worcestershire based Xoptix Ltd have seen an increase in demand for their CementSizer due to its unique way of ensuring process efficiency targets are met, while reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint.
Xoptix who launched their patented CementSizer in July last year have seen the need for in-line particle sizing in the cement industry increase as companies strive to boost production whilst reducing their energy costs.
Sampling up to 2000 times per second, the CementSizer can increase throughput in a cement mill by up to 5%. Using Xoptix’s patented particle sizing technology allows process changes to be made efficiently and ensures the production of in-spec material is maintained. As a consequence of this, laboratory workload can be decreased, and there is a significantly lower standard deviation in the cement fineness. Companies benefit from an increased consistency in the cement produced, as well as greatly enhanced process efficiency and reduced energy consumption.
Richard Graves, Technical Director at Xoptix explains how over the years the Applications Team have worked hard to develop new and innovative technologies for the cement industry that have replaced traditional methods. “We recognised that the cement industry required a new and efficient particle sizer and specialist sampling probes capable of sampling material directly from the process. Our use of ceramic lined components increases their durability when used in the sampling of abrasives such as cement and minimises the need for regular maintenance.” He adds “Xoptix’s unique automatic CellClean technology is standard within every CementSizer system. This technology ensures that sampling is continuous and unaffected by sudden changes in the process. In providing our customers with CellClean technology, disruption in production caused by maintenance and cleaning issues can be reduced, which not only saves time, but improves the efficiency of the process and increases throughput. Our mission to reduce energy consumption through ‘green’ technologies, helps the industry reduce its carbon footprint as part of our ongoing commitment to the environment.”
Xoptix who are based in Malvern, Worcestershire UK, design, manufacture and distribute cost effective particle sizing products for process applications.
