Bricking Solutions has launched its new rolling work platform, for improved safety and efficiency during the maintenance of horizontal vessels. The platform offers 25% increased productivity over traditional rolling scaffolds and features a durable, custom-engineered design. It can be used in a variety of applications, including water treatment, tunnelling, and mining.

The rolling work platform capitalises on Bricking Solutions’ signature modular design and pin-together construction, developed for the EX Flexx50 Bricking Machine and EZ Lift Suspended Platform. Coupled with a hydraulic jack system, the rolling work platform can be constructed in 30 min. and adjusts to maintain a level working surface in less than 20 min. – even while operating in vessels with an incline of up to 20°. Traditional rolling scaffolds allow similar modifications, but only by dismantling and rebuilding the structure to account for incline. This process can take over an hour each time, and requires crews to keep proper tools on hand, taking up valuable scaffold space.

Bricking Solutions manufactures the rolling work platform using high-strength 6061-T6 aluminium, which offers the same strength as steel at a third of the weight, making it lighter and easier to maneouvre than traditional scaffolding systems. 4 in. swivel caster wheels further increase mobility on flat or rounded surfaces, such as those found in tunnels and pipes. The structure comes standard at 3.5 m long (11 ft 4 in.), but can be customised up to 5 m (16 ft) to fit a variety of vessels. With a capacity of 907 kg (2000 lb), the platform can support a three person crew and all required materials, further increasing efficiency and safety.

The platform consists of small modular pieces for easy assembly. Each piece weighs 18 kg (40 lb) or less and can fit through a 91.4 cm (36 in.) dia. access hole. Pin connections improve strength over welded connections and allow for fast assembly. It also comes standard with Perf-O-Grip planking for a non-slip surface and safety fall guards for an industry-leading 3:1 safety factor.

“The drive for enhanced safety and efficiency influences every Bricking Solutions innovation,” said Heather Harding, Managing Director of Bricking Solutions. “When a customer came to us looking for an innovative solution to increase productivity and uptime when servicing long stretches of pipe, we went straight to the drawing board to create the tool they needed.”
