Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited, a leading Indian cement major and a subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Group, has contributed Rs. 2 crore to the Odisha Chief Minister's Relief Fund to strengthen the state's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keeping up with its commitment to assist the state government in this fight, DCBL has also taken several initiatives to contain the pandemic and support the needy and the distraught affected by lockdown, especially around its plant locations at Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district and Biswali in Cuttack district.

Sunil Gupta, Regional Manufacturing Head, East, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited, said, "In the wake of this unprecedented threat, we are totally committed to supporting the national and state governments in their fight to contain the spread of COVID-19. The authorities are doing an exceptional job and we endeavour to assist them with all possible means."

As part of ongoing relief activities, the company has distributed dry food packets to over 900 needy families in villages near Biswali. Similarly, 7 days' grocery has been provided to 650 needy families in and around Rajgangpur. DCBL has also stepped up to help the stranded truck drivers, helpers and homeless. Cooked food has been served to over 3000 such people. Furthermore, the company has teamed up with local MLA of Rajgangpur to feed 8800 local needy people.

Earlier this month, in its bid to contribute to a national cause, Dalmia Bharat Group had committed Rs. 25 crores to the PM-CARES fund as part of its endeavour to assist the government's massive efforts against the pandemic. The group has already dedicated its schools, playgrounds, guest houses and technical centres across plants as facilities for tackling COVID-19 cases. 4700 employees of the group have also come forward by voluntarily pledging their one day's salary, collectively amounting to Rs. 1.6 crores, to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a responsible corporate, Dalmia Bharat Group has taken numerous initiatives to support the employees in distress and people at large. The group has launched a centralised 24/7 Dalmia Support system and any employee in distress can directly reach out to the central team with the given dedicated contact number, e-mail ID and Whatsapp number to seek support.
