Burnpur announces new product from Patratu plant

Kolkata-based Burnpur Cement is to launch a new product, Pozzolona Portland Cement (PPC), according to a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange. PPC will be made at the company’s Patratu plant. Production will begin by the 3rd week of April.
“After the production of PPC, the capacity utilization of the plant will be 100%, and the turnover of the company will increase, which is a positive impact on the financial condition of the company,” Burnpur said.
The Patratu plant in Jharkhand has a capacity of 800 tpd and is located in the Partary Industrial Area with easy access to power infrastructure and local limestone deposits. Burnpur also operates the Asansol plant in West Bangal with a capacity of 1000 tpd.
In 4Q16, the company reported an increased loss of INR47.42 million (US$0.71 million) from its cement business, as its sales fell 80.2% on 4Q15.
