Ambuja Cements, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, has been bestowed with multiple accolades at SKOCH Awards 2024, recognising its contributions to water positivity and the promotion of a circular economy through its plastic waste co-processing initiatives.
Ambuja Cements clinched the coveted Gold Award for ensuring water security through sustainable management. The award underscores its commitment to sustainable water management through recycling, reuse of treated water, developing solutions that consume less water in curing and concrete mix preparation, and by conservation efforts like rainwater harvesting, building check dams, and groundwater recharge. Ambuja Cements continues to set benchmarks in water conservation, solidifying its position as a frontrunner in sustainable practices and achieving an impressive 8x water positivity status.
The company also clinched the Silver Award for its plastic waste co-processing initiatives. By utilising plastic waste as a fuel source in its kilns, it achieved a remarkable 6x plastic negative status, significantly contributing to the reduction of waste and championing environmental cleanliness. This reaffirms the company’s dedication and endeavours towards building a healthier and more sustainable planet for future generations.
The Adani Portfolio secured an impressive third position among India’s Top 50 companies contributing to inclusive growth. Known for its diversified businesses and commitment to sustainable development, the Portfolio continues to make substantial strides in creating a positive societal impact. Ambuja Cements stands out as the only cement company on this list, securing the 11th position.
