CEMEX has announced that it has earned 11 awards from the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA), recognising the ongoing and longstanding commitments to environmental excellence and positive community relations at its aggregate operations.

NSSGA representatives presented CEMEX with the awards via video conference during the NSSGA’s Legislative & Policy Forum earlier this month in Washington, D.C. CEMEX aggregates operations earned nine NSSGA Environmental Excellence Awards, including one Gold Environmental Excellence Award for CEMEX’s Davenport Sand Mine in Davenport, FL. The NSSGA’s Environmental Excellence Awards provide national recognition for operations that actively demonstrate a commitment to the exemplary use of environmental controls and systems.

“We take great pride at CEMEX in being good stewards of the environment and are committed to our pursuit of environmental excellence,” said CEMEX USA President Jaime Muguiro. “The employees at these operations have set and maintained high standards, serving as examples for other operations, and leading the way as we strive to be a good neighbour in the communities where we live and operate.”

The following CEMEX operations were recognised by NSSGA with Environmental Excellence Awards:

Gold

Davenport Sand Mine, Davenport, Fla.

Bronze

Brooksville Quarry, Brooksville, Fla.

Alico Quarry, Ft. Myers, Fla.

Krome Quarry, Miami, Fla.

St. Catherine Quarry, Bushnell, Fla.

In addition to the NSSGA Environmental Excellence Awards, the following CEMEX aggregates operations earned NSSGA Silver Excellence in Community Relations Awards for their dedication to their communities:

The NSSGA Community Relations Excellence Awards recognise producers whose community involvement and support activities enhance the public’s perception of the aggregates industry and producer’s operations.
