Katavsky Cement plants trees

World Cement,

In early October, Katavsky Cement, a holding of the Eurocement Group, held a ‘Plant a Tree – help the planet’ event. The purpose of the event was to familiarise the public with green volunteering, as well as to create good conditions for those living and working in the area.

The campaign staff of the cement plant at Katav-Ivano planted 50 birch saplings at two sites. One group planted 30 young birches in the business area, while a second group planted the trees in the Factory Square in the centre of the city where the plant had earlier launched a large-scale reconstruction and had funded the formation of a small city recreation park.

Katavsky cement regularly implements environmental programmes such as this, as part of Eurocement’s ‘we are here to live and work’ initiative. The initiative, which began as a single day, quickly grew into a large-scale environmental initiative which promotes the rational use of natural resources and undertakes regular eco-educational work with young people. Members traditionally work towards improving the adjacent areas to settlements by planting trees and flowers, caring for green spaces and organising garbage collections.
