The first meetings of the working groups of the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) have been held in London. Russia is represented in the GCCA working groups by the managers of the Eurocement goup: Ilya Kosykh (Vice President of Sales and Logistics) and Yaroslav Stoupa (Vice President of Production and Technical Development).

Ilya Kosykh has joined the working group ‘The Future of Construction and the Role of Concrete’. The goal of this project is to outline key trends in the construction sector and to identify development directions for cement and concrete producers, in order to most effectively address the challenges ahead.

Yaroslav Stoupa became a member of the Cement Innovations working group. Activities under this project will be aimed at promoting and supporting advanced technologies in the cement industry for its sustainable development.

In total, seven working groups were created concerning key areas of work for the organisation: health and safety in the cement and concrete industry; the future of construction and the role of concrete; the importance of concrete for sustainable development; the development of basic principles for the development of the cement industry; cement innovations; best practices and reporting in the cement industry; and communication and advocacy.

“Our group will work closely with key stakeholders – builders and developers – to fully understand their needs,” said Kosykh. “Cooperation in the format of an international group provides a significant advantage, as it allows us to take into account the full diversity of factors: climate, product standards, procurement rules, and technological trends.”

“The practical results of our work will be to promote the research of various methods to improve the efficiency of the production of cement and other mineral binders, including environmental aspects,” said Stoupa. “To do this, we will study the experience of other industries and build cooperation with all stakeholders using various tools, including the creation of online platforms and innovative incubators.”
