World Cement,
Cemex is strengthening its sand and gravel supply in London by opening a new quarry in Shepperton, Surrey, UK. Aggregates from this quarry will support key infrastructure projects in the city's western area, which is undergoing urban expansion.
As sand and gravel become increasingly challenging to secure amid growing demand, approximately 1.2 million tons are expected to be excavated from this site within five years, with an additional year for land restoration to agricultural use. This new quarry will help meet this growing demand and expand Cemex's presence to better serve its customers in the area, particularly for infrastructure projects.
This is part of Cemex’s growth strategy, introduced in 2020, which focuses on bolt-on and margin enhancement across its four core businesses, mainly in developed markets.
