Appointments announced for Lafarge UK and Tarmac joint venture
The Chairman, CEO and CFO for Lafarge SA and Anglo American plc’s UK joint venture have been announced. The venture will combine Lafarge UK and Tarmac’s cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, asphalt, maintenance and waste services businesses. The firms recently sold a portfolio of their assets to Mittal Investments, as part of the Competition Commission’s (CC) terms of approval. The 50:50 joint venture is set to begin operations in early 2013 once it receives clearance from the CC.
Cyrille Ragoucy is to take up the role of CEO. He is Senior Vice President of Health and Safety for Lafarge, after joining the Group in 1998. His previous positions include CEO and Regional President for Lafarge’s cement operations in China and Regional President for Aggregates, Concrete, Asphalt and Paving in Eastern Canada. CFO of Tarmac, Guy Young, has also been announced as CFO of the joint venture, after carrying out various roles at Anglo American for the last 15 years. Jamie Pike will become Non-Executive Chairman. Currently Non-Executive Chairman of Lupus Capital plc, his experience includes Chief Executive of Foseco plc and Burmah Castrol, as well as Non-Executive Director of RMC Group plc and Kelda Group plc.
