Cement production down in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan has witnessed a decrease in cement production over the first nine months of this year compared to the same period last year. The country produced 1.074 million t over January – October 2010, a 3.4% decrease compared to the same period last year (1.28 million t). As of 1 November, 16 400 t of unsold cement had accumulated in unsold stockpiles.
Domestic producers in Azerbaijan have a combined production capacity of 1 – 1.4 million tpa, which accounts for around half of the nation’s requirements; imports satisfy the remainder of the market.
