Active in Russia and CIS countries for more than 20 years, AUMUND Fördertechnik GmbH has supplied more than 1000 machines to the Russian cement, chemical, iron, and steel industries.

AUMUND first opened a representative office in Moscow, Russia in 2008, making it easier for the company to be in direct contact with its customers. However, over time there became a need for a closer physical proximity to the Russian design institutes and engineering companies that have traditionally been located in St Petersburg. Thus, in 2017 the decision was made to relocate AUMUND’s representative office to St Petersburg.

Opened on 21 August, the public launch was accompanied by a technical seminar, which was attended by more than 20 project institutes from St Petersburg, Moscow, Tula, Novosibirsk, and Minsk. The invited organisations covered a number of specific fields across the entire spectrum of bulk materials handling of cement, lime, and gypsum, as well as the mining and minerals industry, iron and steel, fertilizer, and ports and terminals.

According to the company, it is working together with the design institutes that allows AUMUND the opportunity to contribute to optimisation solutions for conveying and storage technology from the outset of a project. The overall technical efficiency of the new plant concept is thus improved, saving space on the construction footprint and increasing competitiveness.

More than 50 participants followed the specialist presentations of AUMUND, SHADE Lagertechnik, and SAMSON Materials Handling. There was particular interest in the different applications for bucket elevators, hopper and silo discharge machines, both with CENTREX® and BEW rotary discharge machines, and arched plate conveyors. Wagon unloading concepts with different wagon tippler modifications and hopper geometries also attracted a lot of attention, as would be expected in a country where such huge distances are covered by railways.

Amongst the highest priorities in Russia over the next few years will be the development of logistics, particularly in ports and terminals, as well as the transition to more ecological closed storage systems. It is expected that this will provide good opportunities for the AUMUND Group companies.

“The fact that the participating project institutes came from different branches of industry made the discussions and the exchanges of experience particularly interesting and enduring, because particular industries have established their own completely different technical solutions to similar technological challenges,” said Dr Nikolai Velten, Sales Director at AUMUND who is responsible for the representative office in St Petersburg. “The opportunity to learn from each other was recognised by all participants as a positive outcome and everyone expressed the wish that such AUMUND seminars take place on a regular basis.”

The AUMUND Group is active worldwide and the conveying specialists have expertise in dealing with bulk materials.
