Production at Reader Cement’s Pinxton plant in Nottinghamshire, UK, hit a new high in May, exceeded the previous high of 10 000 t set in March. In total, 15 000 t of cement products were blended and packed in the month.
“With up to 50 heavy goods vehicles collecting deliveries daily, we have been operating a double shift system to meet customers’ demands,” said Jason Key, Operations Manager at Reader.
Further increases in output are also expected over the remaining summer months. “With the new plant operating to optimum efficiency, there’s still more to come with a third shift, if needed,” continued Key.
Reader is also developing a second site in Huthwaite, with operations planned to start in the coming weeks, and is in the process of launching its own line of products. The recently launched Post Fast product – a fast-setting all-weather blended non-structural cement – has proved popular, the company said, with new products in the pipeline.
A wholly-owned subsidiary of UK-based industrial conglomerate, Langley Holdings, Reader Cement produces a full range of blended cement products for the construction, civil engineering, tunnelling, and DIY markets.
