Gebr. Pfeiffer wins massive VRM order in Turkey

World Cement,

The LIMAK Cement Group is upgrading its Pinarhisar, Ankara and Balikesir plants in Turkey, and as part of this upgrade is replacing seven ball mills with vertical roller mills. The Group has ordered all seven mills from Gebr. Pfeiffer SE to replace three raw mills, three cement mills and a coal mill. The orders are as detailed below.

Pinarhisar cement plant

An MPS 4000 B vertical roller mill will grind 250 tph of raw material to a fineness of =12% R 90 µm. The mill has an installed power of 2000 kW. The raw material has a high moisture content of up to 14% and so the mill will feature a larger housing the allow the high volume flow required for drying. A 4000 kW MPS 4750 BC with a capacity of 180 tph of OPC ground to a fineness of 3500 cm2/g will also be installed at the plant, while an MPS 2800 BK has been chosen to grind petcoke. This mill will grind 30 tph to a product fineness of =2% R 90 µm at an installed power of 700 kW.

Ankara and Balikesir cement plants

These plants will each have an MPS 4570 BC and an MPS 4000 B for grinding cement and raw material, respectively.

Gebr. Pfeiffer staff will supervise installation and commissioning of all the mills, of which five will be set up this year and two next year.

The orders followed an earlier order, in 2009, by the LIMAK Cement Group for a coal mill and a raw mill for the Sanliurfa plant.
