PCA announces 2021 Chairman’s Safety Performance Award Winners

The Portland Cement Association (PCA) has announced the winners of the 2021 Chairman’s Safety Performance Awards, which recognise outstanding safety performance in the manufacturing of Portland cement, the main ingredient used in all forms of concrete.

PCA is proud to announce that all winners in the small, medium, and large categories had a total incident rate of zero, resulting in more winning plants than in previous years. The winning plants were awarded during a recent virtual PCA Occupational Health & Safety Committee meeting.

“Health and safety are core values in all operations, industry-wide,” said PCA Chairman and President of GCC of America, Ron Henley. “Each one of us is held accountable for the protection of ourselves and those around us. These awards exemplify those values.”

The 2021 PCA Chairman’s Safety Performance Award winners are (*facility also won a Chairman’s Safety Award in 2020):

Small Category: Less Than 200 000 Hours

Buzzi Unicem USA, Inc. – Chattanooga, TN*

Ash Grove Cement Company – Midlothian, TX

Medium Category: Between 200,000 – 300 000 Hours

Continental Cement Company – Buffalo, IA

National Cement Company, Inc. – Encino, CA

Lehigh Hanson, Inc. – Mason City, IA

Lehigh Hanson, Inc. – Leeds, AL

Large Category: Over 300 000 Hours

CalPortland Company – Oro Grande, CA

CEMEX USA – Victorville, CA*

Titan America LLC – Medley, FL*
