World Cement,
Eurocement’s Oskolcement reported shipments of 201 300 t of cement in April 2015, up by 553 t from April 2014. Shipments of bagged cement were up 75.7% y/y.
The plant made particular note of the increase in demand for CEM I 42.5 N, which is known for its frost resistance and strength.
Russia’s economy is expected to shrink by 5% this year and the construction industry is said to be 20 – 25% down, so news of increased cement sales is counter to the trend.
Oskolcement is the largest cement producer in Russia, with production capacity over 4.1 million tpy.
