Eurocement has signed three new contracts worth US$280 million with Sinoma International Engineering Company for the supply of equipment for the construction of new dry process cement plants in the Belgorod and Karachay-Cherkessia regions. The signing ceremony was held on 9 November 2014 during a bilateral meeting of the Heads of States at the Beijing XXII APEC Summit in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.

As part of the contracts, Sinoma will supply a complete set of equipment, design, installation supervision and training of staff for the construction of three new plants. The new grinding units, which will be based on the existing Oskolcement and Belgorod Cement plants, located in the Belgorod region, and the Kavkazcement plant, situated in Karachay-Cherkessia, will have a clinker capacity of 6200 tpd and a cement capacity of 3 million tpa.

In May 2014, during a bilateral meeting of the Heads of State of Russia and China in Shanghai, Eurocement signed contracts totalling US$580 million with specialised companies within the Sinoma, CNBM and Sinomach Groups for the supply of equipment for plants in six different regions of the Russian Federation (Leningrad, Ryazan, Bryansk, Arkhangelsk, Ulyanovsk and Samara). With the signing of the new contracts, the total cost of contracts signed in 2014 exceeded US$860 million.

Under the terms of the contracts, commissioning of the new dry process plants is planned for 2017. Switching to the dry process method will double energy efficiency and more than triple productivity, while reducing the company’s environmental impact. Following the completion of Eurocement’s modernisation programme (in 2018), the volume of dry cement production in Russia will reach 65%.
