A meeting has taken place between Eurocement Group’s board of directors, including Chairman Filaret Galchev and President of the Holding Mikhail Skorokhod, and the Governor of the Samara region, Dmitry Azarov. The meeting took place at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi. The parties discussed cooperating in the framework of the project for the modernisation of the Eurocement Group in the Samara region – Zhigulevskiy Building Materials – and the launch of white cement production in 2019.
In the process of implementing the investment project, a cooperation agreement was signed during the meeting, for effective cooperation between the government of the Samara Region and Eurocement.
The launch of white cement production was supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia as an important step in import substitution. Eurocement’s investments in the Zhigulevskiy Building Materials plant amount to more than RUB1 billion. Leading companies in the industry are involved in the work. In particular, Turkish company DAL Teknik is engaged in the modernisation of the rotary kiln.
“The modernised plant Zhigulevskiy Building Materials will have a unique raw material base, modern eco-friendly equipment, and automated packaging and loading lines,” said Galchev. “Our customers will get a high-quality product on time and in a convenient form. I am confident that our production will create conditions for a wider use of white cement in Russia and will help to create a comfortable urban environment.”
“This is a very important project for our region,” said Azarov. “In fact, this is the creation of a new production of export-orientated product – white cement. President Vladimir Putin has set the task of increasing exports and any new technologies and production are, first of all, an increase in the competitiveness in world markets. This is the production we expect to organise this year in the Samara region in the city of Zhigulevsk. It is important, of course, also because these are new jobs.”
