Cement consumption in Spain grew by 8.6% in the first half of the year, bringing the total consumption to 5 624 834 t. This figure is 472 616 t greater than for the same period last year.
In June, consumption stood at 75 632 t, 7.5% more than the same month of 2014. For the full year consumption is expected to grow by 10%, which would place the end of the year at about 12 million t.
The CEO of Oficemen, Aniceto Zaragoza, commented, "We are in a year full of uncertainty, we are recording higher consumption in the months of March and April, justified by the habitual tendency of administrations to undertake work during the elections".
