According to data released by the Polish Cement Association, cement production in Poland increased to 1.4 million t in March 2014, a 74.4% y/y increase compared to the same period a year earlier. Furthermore, production rose by 53.5% y/y to 2.53 million t in January – March 2014.

Cement sales also witnessed a huge increase during the reporting period. In March, sales increased by 100.4% y/y to 1.38 million t. In January – March 2014, cement sales reached 2.67 million t, a 64% y/y rise compared to the same period a year earlier.

The rise in cement consumption can be attributed to increased in investment in public, private and transport infrastructure. Furthermore, good weather conditions over the winter months and warm temperatures in March have allowed for continued construction work throughout the period.
