Speculation continues over who remains in the LafargeHolcim assets bidding process
Speculation over who remains in the bidding process for the assets proposed for divestment by Lafarge and Holcim continues. Bloomberg is reporting that CRH and groups led by Blackstone Group LP (BX) and CVC Capital Partners Ltd, are rumoured to have placed bids, although it should be noted that this has not been confirmed. Earlier this week, reports suggested that India’s UltraTech Cement and Turkey’s Sabanci were no longer in the bidding process. Other construction materials groups such as HeidelbergCement and Cementos Argos have previously confirmed that they would not be taking part in the final bidding process.
Meanwhile, IndustriALL Global Union, Building and Wood Workers’ International, and the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers have coordinated a day of action related to the LafargeHolcim merger, which they say is a call for unions and workers to have a greater ‘voice in the merger process’. This includes various forms of action across a number of countries, including a picket and 1-hour work stoppage by French unions at the Lafarge headquarters in Paris.
