Agreement reached for Lafarge Tarmac to acquire Tarmac Building Products
Anglo American plc has announced that it has reached an agreement to sell Tarmac Building Products Limited (TBP) to Lafarge Tarmac Holdings Limited, the 50:50 joint venture between Lafarge and Anglo American’s construction materials and services businesses in the UK.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals. Both TBP and Lafarge Tarmac operations will continue to operate independently until such approvals are obtained.
“TBP offers a close fit with our existing business, which will add value for us and our customers, while also securing TBP’s long-term future. The deal will also open up new opportunities for Lafarge Tarmac particularly in the house-building sector,” said Cyrille Ragoucy, CEO of Lafarge Tarmac.
TBP supplies of heavy building products, such as construction blocks, bagged aggregates and cement products. The transaction is expected to close in 1H14.
