Cemex is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the start of its globalisation strategy by commemorating the company’s entry into the Spanish market in 1992.
Cemex started its international diversification strategy by acquiring Spanish companies Valenciana de Cementos Portland and Auxiliar de la Construccion – the two largest cement makers in Spain at the time.
Initiated in 1992, its global diversification strategy enable Cemex to consolidate its position as one of the key competitors in the building materials industry in the world, with a presence in Mexico; the US; South, Central America, and the Caribbean; Europe; and Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
“Our company has enjoyed tremendous development over the past 25 years. We are very proud of our history and our company’s many achievements over this period, made by all of those who formed and are currently part of CEMEX,” said Fernando A. Gonzalez, CEO of CEMEX. “We have evolved from a local cement producer to a global company, integrating the best practices and talent into our worldwide operations.”
