World Cement,

For the 13th time, Christian Pfeiffer Maschinenfabrik GmbH hosted the annual customer seminar at the company location in Beckum, Germany. Participants from seven nations were trained in efficient grinding and separation processes from 16 to 19 September 2019.

Under the technical direction of Tim Nowack, head of the process and R&D departments, internal and external experts gave presentations on how grinding processes in the bulk material industry can be made more efficient. The participants included professional process engineers, maintenance engineers, production managers and plant operators, who will now be able to better understand their own plant and optimise production operations.

The concept of the training does not only refer to products of Christian Pfeiffer but also to applied process engineering in general. In the first content section, an overview of all factors influencing the grinding process is given and supported by case studies of various grinding plants, new design developments as well as mill internals including the diaphragms and shell linings.

The second content section covers a basic knowledge and experience on plant evaluation. Axial sampling, analysis and evaluation during a crash stop provide crucial information about the efficiency of the system and offers direction on which production steps need to be optimized to achieve performance improvements such as energy savings.

The third part of the training rounds off the expertise in handling heat balances, vertical mills and maintenance procedures.

The Christian Pfeiffer Seminar is not only customer training, but also invites an interactive experience exchange. The resulting dialogue provides real-world information on best practices and recurring problems as well as their approaches to solving them.

An optional fourth day of training afforded an opportunity to observe practical applications for some of the acquired knowledge by a visit to the cement plant Spenner in Erwitte.

Typical feedback of the participants continues to be positive in 2019:

"I can recommend participation in the Christian Pfeiffer Seminar to others. The process engineering expertise is very valuable and can lead to significant energy savings," says production manager Alexey Komelkov at CESLA, Russia.

The next Christian Pfeiffer Seminar will take place in fall 2020. The exact date will be communicated in short time on the website and LinkedIn.
