Tarmac supports UK-GBC members

UK-GBC is launching a new piece of work that will explore industry approaches, tools and behaviours to ensure that the non-domestic buildings designed, constructed and operated on perform in a robust and reliable way. The project will focus on energy performance and wider building performance in health, wellbeing and productivity terms.

There is an increasingly large body of evidence that shows that there is a 'gap' between the expected, designed or desired performance of the building and how that building performs once delivered, occupied and maintained over time. All too often predictions of the whole building performance are either not accurately made or communicated.

Emma Hines, Sustainable Construction Manager, Tarmac, said: "We support the aims and ambitions of the task group as it seeks to develop a deeper understanding of how better building performance can be delivered. The research provides an opportunity to explore the actions needed to address the performance gap, and highlights the importance of whole life thinking in designing sustainability into the envelope of a structure to deliver long term benefits."

The research will work with UK-GBC members to explore what companies are already doing to address the issue of building performance, seek out best practice, and to identify gaps and barriers that need to be overcome across the whole industry.
