CNMC investigates possible anticompetitive behaviour in Spanish cement market

World Cement,
Spain’s National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) is once again looking at anticompetitive behaviour in the cement, concrete and related industries. Inspections took place at the end of May and relate to investigations into possible agreements and/or exchanges of information, and/or price fixing, and/or other trading conditions that may constitute a violation of the country’s competition laws. CNMC has made clear that the inspections were part of the investigation and do not prejudge the outcome or the guilt of the inspected entity.
The case can be investigated for a maximum of 18 months. Included in the proceedings are Betón Catalan SA, Cementos Molins Industrial SA, Promotora Mediterranean 2 SA, Hanson Hispania, SA, Cemex Operations Spain, SLU, Tenesiver SL, Arroyo Commercial Construction SA, Concrete Giral SA, Cementos Portland Valderrivas, SA, Cementos Lemoa SA, SL Materials & Concrete, Lafarge Cementos SA, Holcim Spain SA and Hormibusa SL.
