Estanda installs water injection system for ball mill

World Cement,

At the end of October, Estanda finished the installation of a water injection system for a 3.8 m dia. ball cement mill for the Buzzi Unicem Group.

Estanda was able to achieve the target requested by the customer: to obtain an outlet temperature below 100°C in the cement, without compromising the quality of the cement and maintaining the productivity of the process.

The water injection system installed utilised three major innovations:

  • Personalised programming of the PLC according to the customer’s requirements, permitting water injection into the two milling chambers either synchronously, or independently, which increases flexibility in the operation of the ball mill.
  • The system allows for the selection of the parameters to be controlled, including cement temperature and control of the total amount of water supplied, thereby increasing the added value of the water injection system.
  • Remote control and assistance for the entire water injection system through an internet connection, which enables modifications to be made to the configuration and performance of the system, avoiding the necessity of visits to the customer’s installation, and so improving customer service and reducing response time.
