Heidelberg Materials plan US$200m Russia cement plant expansion

World Cement,
Heidelberg Materials is reportedly planning a US$200 million expansion of a cement plant near St Petersburg.
The project would be carried out through the company’s local subsidiary and funded within Russia. Heidelberg said the work is linked to environmental and CO2 requirements and “does not constitute an investment” by the parent company.
The reported move contrasts with the company’s earlier position. In 2022, Heidelberg Materials said it would freeze new investments in its Russian business following the invasion of Ukraine.
Heidelberg has operated in Russia since 2001 and maintains a local production presence serving regional construction markets.
