Cement statistics: Lanzarote and the Canary Islands
Sales of cement reached 28 361.4 t in the Canary Islands in January 2014, according to the Canary Island’s Institute of Statistics (ISTAC). Full-year cement sales volumes have gradually declined in the region, falling from 819 994 t in 2010, to 678 307.4 t in 2011, to 517 181.9 t in 2012, down to 458 969 t in 2013.
In Lanzarote, volumes increased by 31.4% y/y from 2209.2 t in January 2013 to 2903.6 t in January 2014. However, this figure is down 24.5% on the previous month of December 2013. In full-year 2013, cement sales volumes came in at 41 527.1 t, rising by 29.9% from the 31 977.7 t dispatched in 2012. However, 2013’s volumes remained below 2010 and 2011, when 51 342.6 t and 44 938.2 t were sold, respectively.
