World Cement,

Consolidated revenues 2011

The Board of Directors of Ciments Français, of the Italcementi Group, has reviewed revenues as of 31 December 2011. Consolidated group revenues came in at €3886.3 million, 3.8% lower than 2010. Within this, cement revenues fell from €2821.4 million in 2010 to €2598.8 million in 2011. The drop in revenue has been attributed to adverse exchange rates, lower sales volumes and declining prices in countries such as Egypt. However, revenues improved in France, Belgium, Morocco, Thailand and India. Asia experienced a revenue increase from €449 million to €499.4 million, whilst revenues in Western Europe rose 2.6% to €1765.4 million.

Sales volumes 2011

The year saw an overall decrease in sales volumes with cement and clinker falling 1.4% to 42.4 million t and aggregates dropping by 5.2% to 34.8 million t. However, ready mix concrete fared better, with sales increasing by 1.9% to 9.7 million m3.

Although cement sales in Egypt fell due to the crisis, sales volumes increased in France, Morocco and India. The highest rise in cement sales occurred in North America where they reached 4.2 million t, an increase of 5.1% from 2010. North America also experienced the greatest surge in aggregate sales compared to the previous year, as they rose 40.7%.

Sales volumes 4Q11

Cement sales volumes decreased by 1.7% to €10.2 million during the fourth quarter of 2011, despite increases in France and North America. The floods in Thailand had a negative impact upon cement sales figures in the region. However, aggregates and ready mix concrete experienced a slight rise in sales volumes, with a 0.3% increase of aggregates to 8 million t and 0.1% rise in concrete volumes to 2.3 million m3.
