World Cement,
Cemex has undertaken a number of initiatives to participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month and join the battle against breast cancer. Many of its business units undertook internal campaigns to teach employees about the importance of self-exams.
Employees in Poland, for example, aligned with human resources and made use of the recently created ‘Women’s Forum’ to put together an informational campaign.
Employees in Panama hosted speakers at the Cemex community development centre, and sent ANSPAC graduates to visit local hospitals and neighbourhoods. One of the Cemex ready-mix trucks received a pink makeover, with people who shared pictures of the trucks on social media entered into a competition to win concert tickets.
In the UK, Cemex offices in Rugby a number of fundraising initiatives were organised, including a raffle and food stalls that brought in small business owners from the community. One of the most anticipated activities was the ‘Great Pinkish’ employee baking competition, judged by Cemex UK president Jesús González, at which everyone was encouraged to wear pink, with one of the trucks even being dressed up.
In Egypt, Cemex have decided to cover the fees for female employees that need to have a mammogram in November.
