Barnstone Cement Works, which is part of Tarmac, raised £157 for Macmillan through holding a cake sale as part of Macmillan Cancer’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on 25 September.

Employees of the plant in Barnstone baked cakes, buns and biscuits with both staff and visitors then buying and enjoying the baked goods during their break times throughout the day.

Josie Morrissey, environmental co-ordinator at Barnstone Cement Works, said: “This was a great opportunity for our plant to put in a bit of effort to help raise funds for a fantastic cause. Some of our employees are keen bakers, so we had a great selection of cakes and buns, which made it a great event.”

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer and since they began in 1990, the coffee mornings have raised £137 million for Macmillan.
