HeidelbergCement appoints new member of the Supervisory Board

A new member has been appointed to the Supervisory board of HeidelbergCement AG following the resignation of Dr Herbert Lütkestratkötter in March 2012 due to personal reasons. Professor Dr Marion Weissenberger-Eibl will now replace him as a shareholder representative. Her appointment will run until a by-election at the company’s annual general meeting in May next year.

“We are pleased that, in Professor Dr Marion Weissenberger-Eibl, we have succeeded in attracting a well-respected German top engineer as a new member of our Supervisory Board. Professor Dr Weissenberger-Eibl is very well-connected in the fields of business, science, and politics. Her extensive experience and expertise in the areas of innovation research, renewable energies, demographic development, sustainability, and knowledge management will be a valuable addition to the Supervisory Board of HeidelbergCement AG. By appointing Professor Dr Weissenberger-Eibl, HeidelbergCement is also strengthening its links to science and research in view of future technological and social challenges,” said Fritz-Jürgen Heckmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HeidelbergCement AG.

Professor Dr Marion Weissenberger-Eibl has served as Head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI since 2007 and the Chair of Innovation and Technology Management at the University of Kassel since 2004. In addition, she forms part of an expert group in the German Chancellor’s ‘Dialogue on Germany’s Future’, advising Chancellor Angela Merkel on social and economic issues.
