ABB been awarded a contract by CRH Europe Materials to install its cpmPlus Knowledge Manager software in twelve of CRH’s cement plants in Europe and the US. The software will help CRH to meet its sustainability targets. As a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) Sustainability Initiative, the building materials group is aiming to meet certain environmental goals, such as lowering emissions, climate protection and reducing its consumption of traditional fuels and raw materials.
The ABB software helps companies in the cement and mineral industries to meet operational, production and quality objectives, by collecting real-time data from plants. These can then be accessed in the form of reports, trends and analyses, providing information that can aid operators in processes optimisation.
The Knowledge Manager Software will help CRH to automate its sustainability-related processes, allowing data to be collected from a central regional server. The scope of supply also includes software licenses, engineering and commissioning. Installation and commissioning of the software solution began in 2012, and will continue to be carried out this year. The installation process has been completed in three cement plants thus far.
