PT Pelayaran Tonasa Lines and PT Dok & Perkapalan Surabaya have signed three cooperation contracts, at an investment cost of IDR 1.26 trillion, to build 11 shipping vessel units, according to local reports.

The signing was witnessed by an Independent Commissioner of PT Semen Gresik Tbk, Achmad Jazidie, and the Managing Director of PT Semen Tonasa, Sattar Taba.

The cooperation agreement includes the procurement contract of two self-propelled barge cement carriers with a capacity of 8000 t, a letter of intent on the provision of a further four self-propelled barge cement carriers of the same capacity, five self-propelled barge coal carriers of 8500 t capacity, and a memorandum agreement to repair vessels owned by PT Tonasa Lines.

President Director of PT Pelayaran Tonasa Lines, Wahab Candoko, confirmed that the additional 11 vessels will take the company’s total to 31 vessels, with two of these rented vessels.

The agreement comes on the back of an expected increase in cement production to 6.5 million t, following the operation of the Tonasa V cement plant at the end of this year.

PT Dok & Perkapalan Surabaya will construct the first two vessels at a cost of IDR 115 billion per unit. The development is expected to be completed early next year.
