Research projects and gatherings in China’s cement industry

From 17 August to 7 September, China Building Materials Academy welcomed for the first time a foreign scholar for cooperative research. Dr Elias Perras from the University of Siegen, Germany, came to work on ‘Research on Energy-saving and Sound-insulated Multipurpose Compound Wall Materials and Structure’, which is an international sci-tech project.

The Foreign Affairs Office, the International Sci-Tech Cooperation Office and the Logistics Coordination Department supported the research. During his visit, Dr Perras worked closely with Dr Chen Jihao and other members of the project team on heat transmissions and sound insulation of composite walls, studying different thermal insulation materials and wall structures. Dr Perras will continue this work at the University of Siegen.

Meanwhile, the Chemical, Metallurgy and Material Engineering Department, CAE, Chinese Materials Research Society and Materials Academic Alliance also organised the ‘2015 Top-level Forum on International Development Trend of New Materials and International Top-Level Forum on Engineering Science and Technology Development Strategy’ from 18 – 20 September. The forum was attended by more than 150 scientific academies and more than 1200 experts. Yao Yan, President of China Building Materials Academy and Director of State Key Laboratory of Green Building Materials, delivered a keynote speech entitled ‘Research and Application of key Cement and Concrete Technologies in Major Projects’.
