Reliance Cement plans new plants in Karnataka

The Deccan Herald is reporting that Reliance Cement will set up a new cement plant and quarry in the Gulbarga district of Karnataka and a grinding unit in Gowribidanur Taluk. The integrated plant will prodce 5.5 million tpa of cement and will have a 75 MW power plant. The quarry will produce some 5 million tpa of limestone. The plant has yet to receive the approval of the state government, but once given the go ahead it is reported that the new plant would be up and running in 2 years. The Letter of Intent for the quarry has already been granted. The grinding plant will produce 3 million tpa of cement and requires an investment of Rs.690 crore.

Reliance Infrastructure, meanwhile, is reportedly seeking shareholder approval to raise funds needed to develop several infrastructure projects, including in the cement sector.
