Dalmia Cement launches business in Kolhapur

India’s Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited has launched its business in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, having recently commenced operations at its 2.5 million tpy greenfield plant in Belgaum, Karnataka. The new plant will cater to the growing demand in Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka.

Dalmia Cement now has 11 cement plants and 24 million t of cement manufacturing capacity. The company is expanding into Mahrashtra, which accounts for 10 – 12% of the total Indian cement market and has been growing at a rate of 3 – 4% over the last year.

Speaking at the grand launch in the city, Mr. Mahendera Singhi, Group CEO, addressed the crowd of more than 170 partners: "DCBL estimates that cement sales in Maharashtra will touch 1 lac million t by 2020 and in order to tap this opportunity, we are targeting to appoint over 600 dealers in the state, of which 170 are in Kolhapur. We will now have a presence across 10 cities including Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Kolhapur, Satara, Ahmednagar etc in the state and are looking to strengthen our market share from 5% to 6% in the next three years."

Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited (DCBL) also announced the launch of Dalmia Ultra Cement with HALC in the Maharashtra market. Built on the most modern technology supplied by KHD Germany, the product will see premium positioning in the business. The strong network of dealers built by Dalmia Cement in the region will look to deliver excellent service while being supported with marketing and training.
