Training course in China on cement-related technology and engineering

Published by , Editor
World Cement,

China’s Ministry of Commerce has launched a training programme in cement-related technology and engineering management as part of its foreign aid programme. The training is taking place in Anhui province, home to Anhui Conch Co. and Hefei Cement Research and Design Institute, some of the most famous names in the Chinese cement industry.

Among those attending the programme are officials from eleven Asian, African and Latin American countries. The aim is to promote cooperation and increase exchanges between the cement industries in China and those countries eligible to receive aid.

Training is a very important matter in the cement industry, which is suffering a severe skills shortage that is only likely to worsen over the next few years as experienced personnel ‘age out’ of the cement industry. A few days ago we reported on an initiative at Votorantim’s Santa Helena cement plant in Brazil where eleven young people training to be engineers were invited to learn more about the cement production process. Also mentioned at that time was the 2014 Trainees Programme with Votorantim, the deadline for applications for which is today. Learn more about that programme by clicking here.

Those people interested in training schemes within the cement industry might also be interested in attending the 2014 IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Industry Technical Conference in Washington, D.C. next April where there will be training opportunities for ‘Junior Professionals’. More details about the event can be found here.
